GCMD's FEET fund links retrofits to verifiable savings

A blended, unsecured structure opens a new tier of maritime decarbonisation investment below fuel-switching and newbuilds.

Huge congratulations to Lynn Loo and the Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation (GCMD) team on launching the Fund for Energy Efficiency Technologies (FEET)! This is an impressive milestone and a major step forward for maritime decarbonisation.

FEET’s blended, unsecured financing structure is a genuine innovation: it finally links efficiency retrofits to verifiable fuel and regulatory savings, opening a new tier of decarbonisation investment below fuel-switching and newbuilds.

At Carbon3, we see this as deeply complementary. High-confidence, sensor-verified efficiency gains create measurable, auditable reductions that can be fractionalised and shared across supply chains as inset credits. This ensures broader Scope 3 alignment and co-investment across value chains.

It is exciting to see GCMD pushing the frontier, and we’re cheering them on as FEET scales across the industry.
