About this project

The description is as the source gives it.

AWS transitioned backup generators at data center sites in Europe and the U.S. to hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) renewable diesel starting in 2023, with further rollout in 2024. HVO reduces lifecycle GHG emissions by up to 90% compared to fossil diesel. Evidence: "In 2023, AWS started transitioning to hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) to power backup generators at its data center sites in Europe and the U.S., with sites in Ireland, Sweden, and Oregon among the first to make the switch. In 2024, we transitioned AWS backup generators to renewable diesel in parts of Europe and the U.S." — https://aws.amazon.com/about-aws/sustainability/
