The partners behind an inset project

An inset project needs more than a supplier and its funders. Independent validators and verifiers, measurement providers, advisors, industry bodies and lenders all play a part. The mix changes with the industry and the method.

The categories of partners Carbon3 works with

Each entry shows what a partner does, how it works with Carbon3, what it gets, and where it fits in a project. Carbon3 itself never validates or verifies.

  • Validation and verification bodies

Independent, accredited firms. The validator checks the scope, baseline and method before work starts. The verifier confirms the tonnes reduced afterwards.

    With Carbon3
Their reports are attached to the project record on Carbon3. Each credit links back to them.
    What it gets
Their work stays visible to every later holder and auditor. Carbon3 does not validate or verify, so it never competes with them.

  • MRV providers

Measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) providers collect and check the monitoring data. That can be fuel records, meter readings, production data or farm records.

    With Carbon3
Their data feeds the verification report behind each credit.
    What it gets
A defined role in projects where several funders rely on the same measurements.

  • ESG advisors and consultants

Advisors help companies find reductions in their supply chain. They scope projects and fit the credits into Scope 3 reporting and targets.

    With Carbon3
Advisors bring a client’s supplier project to the platform and use the registry record when the client reports.
    What it gets
A way to turn supplier engagement into a funded project, with an audit trail for the report.

  • Industry bodies and buyer alliances

Associations and alliances bring together the companies in a sector that rely on the same suppliers.

    With Carbon3
They convene the co-funders for a shared project and agree a common method.
    What it gets
Members can act together on shared suppliers. Each member’s share is on record.
    Steps
    01 Scoping06 Allocation
  • Registries and standards bodies

They set the rules for methods, and for tracking and recognizing claims. That includes book-and-claim schemes.

    With Carbon3
Carbon3 builds to their rules and works alongside them. It does not replace them.
    What it gets
Projects that follow their methods, with a clean record of who holds and who claimed each tonne.
    Steps
    01 Scoping07 Sale or retirement
  • Banks, funds and lenders

Financial institutions fund projects up front, inside real supply chains.

    With Carbon3
They take a funder’s share at scoping, or buy future credits once the project is validated. They can hold, sell or retire the credits on the platform.
    What it gets
A transferable claim on verified emissions reductions, with every movement on record.

  • Data and technology providers

They supply data feeds, MRV tools and software that keep measurements consistent across systems.

    With Carbon3
They connect the source data to the project record, so each credit traces back to it.
    What it gets
A defined place for their data in projects that several funders rely on.
