About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
BASF is operating a test facility for methane pyrolysis at its Ludwigshafen site in Germany since 2021 to produce low-emission hydrogen for chemical production. The technology decomposes natural gas into hydrogen and solid carbon without direct CO2 emissions, offering a significant reduction compared to traditional steam reforming methods. An industrial-scale plant is planned for around 2030 to support production of chemicals like ammonia and methanol.
Statuses, countries and reductions are as the public source states them, and may be out of date.
