About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
OCI European Nitrogen (wholly owned subsidiary) began replacing 20% of conventional natural gas feedstock with biogenic sources in the ammonia production process for Melafine melamine at its Geleen, Netherlands facility starting 1 July 2024. This fuel switching reduces Scope 1 emissions in own operations and enables lower-carbon melamine products with ~50% CO2 reduction vs. imports. Plans exist to scale to 100% biomethane. Evidence: "From 1 July, OCI European Nitrogen is replacing 20% of the conventional gas used during the ammonia production process for its Melafine® feedstock with a biogenic source, which will further reduce OCI's carbon footprint and contribute to its customers’ CO2 emissions reduction." — https://gulfoilandgas.com/webpro1/main/mainnews.asp?id=1018610
