The Carbon2Business project will deploy an innovative carbon capture technology at Holcim Germany’s cement plant in Lägerdorf, Germany, using a 2nd generation oxyfuel process and a downstream Compression and Purification Unit to capture over 1.2 million tons of CO2 annually starting from 2028.<grok:render type="render_inline_citation"><argument name="citation_id">71</argument></grok:render><grok:render type="render_inline_citation"><argument name="citation_id">2</argument></grok:render> The captured CO2 will be provided as raw material to different industries in the region, enabling net-zero cement production.<grok:render type="render_inline_citation"><argument name="citation_id">70</argument></grok:render> This highly innovative technology aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions of cement production by 128% compared to the reference scenario over the first ten years of operation.
