About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
The SPACE project aims to decarbonize the Volvo Group Skövde foundry, responsible for 10% of the company's GHG emissions, by integrating electrification, hydrogen, and advanced industrial AI, achieving an 88% reduction compared to the reference scenario. Key innovations include 22 MW AI-controlled peak shaving, 171 MWh energy storage with innovative batteries, electric induction furnaces replacing coke-powered ones, hydrogen substituting propane, an AI-driven IoT platform, and heat recovery systems. It expects to reduce CO2 footprint by 40,000 tons annually, avoid over 341,000 tonnes of CO2e in the first ten years, enhance grid stability, and provide a replicable model for sustainable manufacturing.
Statuses, countries and reductions are as the public source states them, and may be out of date.
