About this project

The description is as the source gives it.

Vallourec deployed its patented Carboval continuous carbonization technology at Florestal units in Minas Gerais, Brazil, producing biomass charcoal from its own renewable eucalyptus forests for use in blast furnaces as a coke substitute. New reactors started operations in June 2024 with R$90M investment, eliminating biogenic methane emissions and improving energy efficiency. Evidence: "Vallourec has started operations of a new industrial plant for the production of biomass charcoal, originated from its renewable forests, using Carboval technology in its Florestal unit (Minas Gerais)." — https://www.vallourec.com/news/vallourec-begins-plant-operations-for-the-production-of-biomass-charcoal-with-pioneering-technology/
