About this project

The description is as the source gives it.

The Columbus project demonstrates an industrial-scale E-methane production process in Wallonia, Belgium, by capturing CO2 from oxy-combustion lime kilns and combining it with green hydrogen from a 100 MW electrolyser powered by renewables. The synthesized E-methane serves as a carbon-neutral fuel for industry, transport, or gas grid injection, targeting a 284% reduction in relative GHG emissions and 1.8 million tonnes absolute avoidance over 10 years. Partners include ENGIE (coordinator via Electrabel), Carmeuse, and John Cockerill.<grok:render type="render_inline_citation"><argument name="citation_id">22</argument></grok:render><grok:render type="render_inline_citation"><argument name="citation_id">33</argument></grok:render>
