About this project

The description is as the source gives it.

The ECOPLANTA project, based in Spain, is a pioneering circular economy initiative funded by the European Commission and announced in late 2021. It involves constructing a plant in El Morell, Tarragona, that will process up to 400,000 tons of non-recyclable municipal solid waste annually to produce approximately 237,000 tons of renewable methanol per year. This methanol will serve as feedstock for renewable chemicals and advanced biofuels, reducing GHG emissions by about 200,000 tons per year and preventing waste from reaching landfills.

Statuses, countries and reductions are as the public source states them, and may be out of date.
