About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
Sasol signed a 15-year virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with Akuo for 91 MW of solar capacity from the Tennyson solar farm in Coke County, Texas, supplying approximately 250,000 MWh annually to the Lake Charles Chemicals Complex in Louisiana. This contracted renewable energy deal is expected to meet about 50% of the site's electricity demand and reduce Scope 2 emissions starting in the second half of 2026. It supports Sasol's target of a 30% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2030. Evidence: "The VPPA will deliver the equivalent of 91 megawatts, or 250,000 megawatt hours, annually of renewable energy capacity associated with the Tennyson solar farm Akuo is building in Coke County, Texas. This amount is approximately 50 percent of the annual electricity consumption at Sasol’s Lake Charles Chemicals Complex. Once implemented in the second half of calendar year 2026, the 15-year agreement will reduce Sasol's CO2 emissions by approximately 90 thousand tons per annum (ktpa)." — https://www.nasdaq.com/press-release/sasol-and-akuo-sign-virtual-power-purchase-agreement-2025-06-25
