About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
WM New Zealand operates multiple landfill and energy parks including Whitford, Redvale, and Kate Valley where advanced gas capture systems collect over 90% of biogas from organic waste. The captured methane is either flared, used as fuel for on-site operations, or converted to electricity fed into the national grid, directly reducing Scope 1 biogenic methane emissions from their own landfills. Additional technologies like BeneVap at Kate Valley use landfill gas to power leachate evaporation systems. Evidence: "WM New Zealand's landfills capture over 90% of biogas from organic waste, preventing harmful greenhouse gases. The biogas is either destroyed, used as fuel for landfill operations, or converted to electricity for the national grid." — https://www.wm.nz/about/our-landfills/
