About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
Vulcan Energy is developing an integrated geothermal energy and direct lithium extraction (DLE) project in Germany's Upper Rhine Valley to produce battery-grade lithium hydroxide using renewable geothermal heat and power, avoiding fossil fuels in processing for net-zero CO2 emissions per tonne of lithium. The project co-generates renewable electricity and heat for local use as part of insetting low-carbon lithium in the EV battery value chain. Phase One has received final investment decision, secured €2.2bn financing including from EIB, and construction is underway. Evidence: "Vulcan Energy (ASX: VUL, FSE: VUL) is building the world’s first carbon neutral, integrated lithium and renewable energy business to decarbonise battery production. ... Lionheart involves the construction of an integrated lithium and renewable energy project targeting production capacity of 24,000 tonnes of lithium hydroxide monohydrate (LHM), ... with a co-product of 275 GWh of renewable power and 560 GWh of heat per annum for local consumers" — https://v-er.eu/
