About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
The CIRQLAR project recovers low-temperature waste heat (around 100°C) from the Repsol A Coruña Refinery in Spain and upgrades it to 150°C using innovative heat pumps, producing 4 MW of usable steam from 3 MW of waste heat. This reduces the refinery's energy consumption by 24% and achieves annual GHG emission reductions of 7,500 tonnes of CO2e compared to the reference scenario.<grok:render type="render_inline_citation"><argument name="citation_id">56</argument></grok:render><grok:render type="render_inline_citation"><argument name="citation_id">15</argument></grok:render> As Europe's first-of-its-kind, it addresses key barriers to adoption and supports replication across energy-intensive industries to enhance sustainability and reduce natural gas dependence.
