About this project

The description is as the source gives it.

Rio Tinto is trialling a fleet of eight 91-tonne battery-electric haul trucks with battery-swap technology at its Oyu Tolgoi copper mine in Mongolia to reduce emissions from mining fleet operations. The trial includes supporting infrastructure and will run through 2026 to gather operational data for potential wider adoption across Rio Tinto's global fleet. Evidence: "Rio Tinto and SPIC Qiyuan have delivered and installed a fleet of eight 91-t Tonly trucks, together with 13 batteries (each 800 kWh), a battery swapping station, static charger and supporting infrastructure." — https://im-mining.com/2025/10/27/rio-tinto-spic-qiyuan-and-tonly-progressing-with-battery-swap-electric-haul-truck-trial-at-oyu-tolgoi/
