About this project

The description is as the source gives it.

Covestro is installing a 100 MWh Rondo Heat Battery at its Brunsbüttel site in Germany to convert intermittent renewable electricity into continuous high-temperature steam, replacing fossil fuel steam generation. The project is supported by Breakthrough Energy Catalyst and EIB, with commissioning planned for end of 2026, providing about 10% of the site's steam needs. Evidence: "Covestro is partnering with Rondo Energy to install an innovative heat battery for the first time: The Rondo Heat Battery stores intermittent renewable electricity and delivers continuous high-temperature steam, thus offers a sustainable alternative to steam generation with fossil fuels. ... scheduled to begin operation at Covestro’s Brunsbüttel site at the end of 2026." — https://www.covestro.com/press/covestro-to-deploy-innovative-heat-battery-from-rondo-energy/
