About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
Conversion of the existing Shuaibah IWPP thermal desalination and power plant into a 600,000 m3/day seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant partially powered by a 65 MWp captive solar PV system. This replaces energy-intensive thermal technology with efficient RO and on-site renewables, directly reducing emissions from ACWA Power's own desalination operations in Saudi Arabia. Evidence: "The agreement entails the conversion and replacement of the IWPP from an energy-intensive power generation and thermal desalination facility to a greenfield seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant under the name “Shuaibah 3 Independent Water Project (IWP)”. ... saving nearly 45 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions and 22 million barrels of light crude oil annually." — https://acwapower.com/en/media-center/latest-news/acwa-power-and-saudi-water-partnership-company-to-reconfigure-shuaibah-3-from-an-energy-intensive-water-and-power-facility-to-a-greenfield-reverse-osmosis-plant/
