About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
Covestro modernized its TDI production plant in Dormagen, Germany, including commissioning a new 150-ton reactor for hot phosgene generation in March 2025 that uses waste heat to generate steam. The upgrades reduce energy consumption by up to 80% compared to conventional processes and cut CO2 emissions by up to 22,000 metric tons per year. Evidence: "In March 2025, we successfully put a new 150-ton, 20-meter-high reactor for hot phosgene generation into operation at our TDI plant in Dormagen that uses waste heat from production processes to generate steam for further manufacturing steps. The modernized plant achieves up to 80 percent reduction in energy consumption compared to conventional processes and reduces CO2 emissions by up to 22,000 tons per year" — https://www.covestro.com/en/sustainability/our-focus-topics/climate-neutrality/energy-efficiency
