ArcBest's ABF Freight conducted a three-week pilot of a Tesla Class 8 long-range electric semi-truck in 2025 on routes including Reno NV to Sacramento CA and regional Bay Area operations, logging 4,494 miles at 1.55 kWh/mile efficiency. Following success, the company purchased two additional Tesla Semis in 2026 for linehaul operations primarily in California with extension to Reno NV to evaluate real-world performance and reduce emissions in over-the-road operations.
