Idemitsu Kosan, together with JAPEX and Hokkaido Electric Power Co., Ltd. (HEPCO), is conducting engineering design work for a CCS project in the Tomakomai area of Hokkaido to capture, transport, and store CO2, with a target launch by 2030. The project includes studies on CO2 separation from emission sources including Idemitsu's Hokkaido refinery and potential utilization for synthetic fuels.
