Lonza is building and will operate a dedicated 130,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Portsmouth, NH, USA, as part of a strategic collaboration with Vertex Pharmaceuticals. The facility incorporates full electrification, renewable electricity sourcing, and a 1.5 MW on-site solar photovoltaic installation to achieve near-zero GHG emissions. It is designed as Lonza's first near-zero GHG emission manufacturing asset and supports commercial production of Vertex's T1D cell therapies.
