About this project

The description is as the source gives it.

1.4 GW HVDC electricity interconnector between the UK and Denmark, operational since 2024, enabling import of renewable energy (primarily wind) to the UK grid. National Grid plc owns and operates the UK side in partnership with Energinet. Reduces UK grid emissions by displacing fossil generation. Evidence: "In its first year of operation Viking Link is expected to save approximately 600,000 tonnes of carbon emissions – this is equivalent to taking roughly 280,000 cars off the road." — https://www.viking-link.com/article/worlds-longest-land-and-subsea-interconnector-started-commercial-operations-today
