About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
MOL Group subsidiary MOL Drybulk Ltd. operates the SHOFU MARU, the world's first bulk carrier equipped with the Wind Challenger hard sail wind-assisted propulsion system developed by MOL and Oshima Shipbuilding. The system reduces fuel consumption and GHG emissions on voyages, primarily transporting coal from Australia, Indonesia, and North America to Japan. Evidence: "Using this method, we completed construction of the 100,000-DWT coal carrier SHOFU MARU equipped with the Wind Challenger in October 2022. In the approximately 18 months through April 2024, the ship transported coal on a total of seven round-trip voyages to Japan, mainly from Australia, Indonesia, and North America, with reduced daily fuel consumption by up to 17%, equating to 5% to 8% per voyage on average." — https://www.mol-service.com/en/services/energy-saving-technologies/wind-challenger
