About this project

The description is as the source gives it.

Vistra developed and brought online a 68 MW utility-scale solar facility plus 2 MW/8 MWh battery storage at its Baldwin Power Plant site in Illinois, repurposing a former coal plant location for renewable generation as part of the state's Coal to Solar initiative. This adds zero-carbon capacity directly to Vistra's owned generation fleet, reducing the emissions intensity of its operations. Evidence: "two new utility-scale solar projects in Illinois have connected to the grid... The 68-MW utility-scale solar and 2-MW/8-MWh energy storage system, which began generating power this month, Baldwin is a power generation hub." — https://investor.vistracorp.com/2024-12-17-Vistra-Connects-Two-Utility-Scale-Solar-Facilities-to-Grid-and-Extends-Operations-of-Baldwin-Power-Plant-in-Response-to-Reliability-Concerns-in-MISO
