About this project

The description is as the source gives it.

Idemitsu Australia (90% owned by Idemitsu Kosan) installed and commissioned a 5 MW solar power generation facility at its Boggabri Coal Mine in New South Wales, Australia, in September 2025 for self-generation to meet mine infrastructure and crusher demand. A 12.6 MWh vanadium flow battery (VFB) is scheduled for operation in late 2026 to store solar and grid power for nighttime use. The project reduces the mine's Scope 2 CO2 emissions by approximately 40% annually. Evidence: "Idemitsu has commenced the implementation of self-generation of electricity at the Boggabri Coal Mine using solar panels installed on the premises. The power generation capacity is 5 MW... This is expected to reduce its CO2 emissions by approximately 5,000 tons in the first year of operation." — https://www.idemitsu.com/jp/news/2025/251008_en.pdf
