About this project

The description is as the source gives it.

Equinox Gold implemented wind power contracts and transitioned to 100% clean electrical power (combination of solar, wind and hydro) at its Santa Luz and Fazenda mines in Brazil. This on-site/contracted renewables initiative reduced Scope 2 emissions in the company's own operations. Contracts commenced in 2023 with savings projected over 10 years. Evidence: "Achieved emissions reductions of 3,566 and 2,630 tCO2e, respectively, at our Santa Luz and Fazenda mines in Brazil by implementing renewable energy (wind) power contracts. In Brazil, we now have wind power contracts at our Santa Luz and Fazenda mines that will reduce our GHG emissions and achieve around $40 million in savings over 10 years. For these two mines, we now have 100% clean electrical power (a combination of solar, wind and hydro-electric generation) meeting all our operational requirements." — https://www.equinoxgold.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/Equinox-Gold-ESG-Report-2023-37-39.pdf
