About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
Sumitomo Chemical and Maruzen Petrochemical are jointly developing technology to produce ethylene and propylene directly from waste polyolefin plastics via chemical recycling, selected under NEDO’s Green Innovation Fund. The project targets establishment of the technology by 2030 to replace fossil resources in Sumitomo Chemical’s petrochemical production at its sites. It includes collaboration with Muroran Institute of Technology and focuses on efficient decomposition and refining processes. Evidence: "their joint project to produce olefins by direct decomposition of waste plastics (the "Project") has been selected by Japan’s New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) as one of the projects for R&D Item 2" — https://www.sumitomo-chem.co.jp/english/news/detail/20220218e_2.html
