About this project

The description is as the source gives it.

Casella Waste Systems operates the Chemung County Landfill and partnered to install a WAGABOX unit that captures landfill gas and upgrades it to pipeline-quality RNG for injection into the local gas network. The project directly reduces Casella's Scope 1 methane emissions from its own landfill operations. The facility began producing RNG in January 2026 and was officially commissioned in May 2026. Evidence: "Casella Waste Systems, Inc. ... and Waga Energy ... held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 14, 2026, to celebrate the opening of the RNG production facility at the Chemung County Landfill in Elmira, New York. The facility ... has been successfully turning landfill gas into RNG since January 2026." — https://www.globenewswire.com/news-release/2026/05/14/3295436/0/en/casella-waste-systems-and-waga-energy-unveil-rng-facility-at-ribbon-cutting.html
