About this project

The description is as the source gives it.

CMC has secured PPAs and VPPAs for its steel mills including a VPPA with Alabama Power for the Birmingham, AL mill (13% renewables from 2026), a VPPA for the Seguin, TX mill (18% renewables), and a PPA with Salt River Project for the Mesa, AZ micro mill (7.5% renewables). These directly supply or attribute renewable electricity to CMC's own operations, reducing Scope 2 emissions via insetting. Evidence: "Our steel mill in Birmingham, AL will have a VPPA with Alabama Power as of 2026, which will source 13% of its electricity from renewable sources. Our mill in Seguin, TX has a VPPA that provides 18% of its electricity from renewables and our first micro mill in Mesa, AZ has a PPA with Salt River Project (SRP) that provides 7.5% of its electricity from renewable sources." — https://esg.cmc.com/environmental/environmental-stewardship/energy-and-climate/
