CSX is converting diesel-electric locomotives to hydrogen fuel cell power at its Huntington Locomotive Shop in West Virginia. The first unit was unveiled in April 2024 in collaboration with CPKC, with three units completed by May 2025 and plans for ongoing conversions at a rate of six to seven per year.
