CSX partnered with Wabtec in 2021 to modernize its locomotive fleet, including Tier 4 switcher upgrades and digital technologies for fuel efficiency. The program delivers up to 20% fuel efficiency improvement and 90% emissions reduction for switchers, with reductions of as much as 250 tons of CO2 per locomotive per year.
