About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
Southern Copper Corporation began receiving renewable wind energy from the Fenicias wind park (168 MW, operated by Grupo México Infraestructura) in August 2024 for its mining operations in Mexico. At full capacity, this contracted renewable supply is expected to reduce SCC's CO2 emissions by approximately 250,000 tonnes per year, equivalent to 7% of its carbon footprint. Renewable electricity consumption at SCC increased from 23% to 36% in 2023, meeting the 2027 target early. Evidence: "As part of our emission reduction efforts, the Company started receiving renewable energy from the Fenicias wind park, operated by Grupo Mexico Infraestructura, in August 2024. Once this wind park supplies its full capacity to our mining operations, SCC will reduce its CO2 emissions approximately 250,000 tonnes per year, which is equivalent to 7% of our carbon footprint." — https://southerncoppercorp.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/m2024e.pdf
