About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
Subsidiary Iwaki Daio Paper commissioned the No.5 recycling boiler in February 2023, enabling use of high-chlorine waste-derived fuels (RPF, waste plastics, etc.) for power generation. Combined with biomass boilers, it supports 100% self-generation using only non-fossil waste and biomass fuels, eliminating fossil fuel use at the mill. Evidence: "At Iwaki Daio Paper, the No. 5 waste-to-energy boiler entered operation in February 2023 as a boiler than can effectively utilize high chlorine waste-derived fuels. ... With the restarted No. 4 Boiler combined with the No. 5 Boiler, Iwaki Daio Paper has become the only paper mill in Japan capable of generating 100% of its own electricity using no fossil fuels and relying solely on waste-derived and biomass fuels." — https://www.daio-paper.co.jp/wp-content/uploads/pdf/2025/DAIO_2025_4_EN.pdf
