About this project

The description is as the source gives it.

JR East entered a corporate PPA to receive renewable electricity from the 31.5 MW Iwaki solar power plant starting April 2025, supplying power to the Yamagata-Akita Shinkansen and reducing Scope 2 emissions in its rail operations. Evidence: "From April 2025, Nozomi Energy's Iwaki solar power plant will be dedicated to supplying JR East with renewable electricity to partly power its Yamagata-Akita Shinkansen service in northern Japan through Tohoku EPCO. ... saving around 16,500 tons of carbon dioxide emissions" — https://nozomi-energy.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/01/Press-Release-Nozomi-Energy-to-provide-renewable-energy-via-pioneering-CPPA.pdf
