About this project

The description is as the source gives it.

FCAB, Antofagasta's transport division, launched and began operating South America's first hydrogen-powered locomotive in November 2025 as a pilot to replace diesel fuel in rail logistics supporting mining operations. The hybrid hydrogen-battery system emits only water vapour and supports Scope 1 emissions reduction in the value chain. Evidence: "FCAB, Antofagasta’s Transport Division, has marked its 137th anniversary with a major operational milestone, becoming the first freight rail operator in Latin America to launch a hydrogen-powered locomotive." — https://www.antofagasta.co.uk/media/articles/fcab-launches-latin-america-s-first-hydrogen-locomotive-on-137th-year-anniversary/
