About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
PT Freeport Indonesia is advancing plans to replace its existing coal-fired power plant at Grasberg with a new 265 MW gas-fired combined cycle facility and dual-fuel capabilities, using LNG supplied via floating storage and regasification unit. The ~$1 billion project (incremental $0.4 billion) is expected to meaningfully reduce Scope 1 GHG emissions. Evidence: "PT-FI is advancing plans to transition its existing energy source from coal to liquefied natural gas, which is expected to meaningfully reduce PT-FI’s Scope 1 GHG emissions at the Grasberg minerals district. The project includes investments in a new gas-fired combined cycle facility." — https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/831259/000083125924000011/fcx-20231231.htm
