About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
Metsä Group (subsidiary of Metsäliitto Cooperative) is piloting and pre-engineering a biogenic carbon capture facility at its Rauma pulp mill to capture CO2 from flue gases. The pilot plant started operations in 2025 in collaboration with ANDRITZ, with pre-engineering for a commercial-scale plant (nominal ~100,000 tonnes CO2/year capacity) beginning in early 2026. This insetting project targets Scope 1 emissions reduction in own pulp production operations. Evidence: "In June, a carbon capture pilot plant came online at Metsä Group's Rauma mill, where the company is testing the capture of pulp mill flue gases." — https://www.metsagroup.com/news-and-publications/news/2025/metsa-groups-carbon-capture-pilot-underway--investigation-of-a-demo-plant-beginning/
