About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
Boliden partnered with Skellefteå Kraft on the Ecolink project to connect district heating networks and utilize additional waste heat from the Rönnskär smelter. The project, initiated in 2022 and completed in late 2024, became fully operational in early 2025, enabling Skellefteå Kraft to reduce peat use and cutting associated CO2 emissions by approximately 25,000-26,500 tonnes per year while reducing Boliden's oil consumption. Evidence: "Through the Ecolink project, two district heating networks have been connected – allowing waste heat from Boliden Rönnskär to be utilized by even more people. ... This results in a reduction of CO₂ emissions by approximately 25,000 tonnes per year" — https://www.boliden.com/newsroom/news--media/stories/Ecolink-circular-collaboration/
