About this project

The description is as the source gives it.

JR Central developed and introduced the Series HC85 hybrid-powered limited express trains as successors to older diesel railcars on routes like Hida and Nanki. A total of 68 cars were introduced by July 2023 to reduce direct CO2 emissions from fuel use on non-electrified lines. Evidence: "We have developed the new, hybrid-powered limited express Series HC85 as the successor to the Series 85 diesel railcars used for our limited express trains "Hida" and "Nanki" and introduced a total of 68 cars by July 2023." — https://global.jr-central.co.jp/en/company/environment/contribution.html

Statuses, countries and reductions are as the public source states them, and may be out of date.
