About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
100% Shell-owned CCS project at the Scotford Energy and Chemicals Park in Alberta, Canada, designed to capture CO2 from the refinery and chemicals complex for storage. It directly reduces Scope 1 emissions from Shell's own operations, building on Quest experience. FID taken in June 2024 with operations targeted for late 2028. Evidence: "Polaris is designed to capture approximately 650,000 tonnes of CO2 annually from the Shell-owned Scotford refinery and chemicals complex. ... Polaris (100% Shell-owned) will have the potential to reduce Scope 1 CO2 emissions at Shell's Scotford refinery by capturing and storing up to 40% and by up to 22% at the chemicals complex." — https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/shell-to-build-carbon-capture-and-storage-projects-in-canada-302182658.html
