About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
The Silverstone project deploys full-scale CO2 capture and mineral storage using innovative Carbfix technology at the Hellisheidi geothermal power plant in Iceland, one of the world's largest. It captures 25,000 tCO2/year from steam turbine emissions by direct water capture, dissolving CO2 in water, and injecting into basalt formations for rapid permanent mineralization into stable carbonates. This achieves a near-zero carbon footprint for the plant, eliminates leakage risks of traditional CCS, and supports Iceland's climate goals.
Statuses, countries and reductions are as the public source states them, and may be out of date.
