About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
Scotiabank entered a 15-year virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with Evolugen (Brookfield Renewable) for 100% of the output from the 42 MW Spring Coulee solar project in Alberta. The project reached commercial operations in 2024, enabling Scotiabank to procure emission-free renewable electricity and RECs for its Canadian operations. This supports the bank's target of 100% emission-free electricity in Canada. Evidence: "In 2022, Scotiabank entered into a 15-year virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with Evolugen, a Canadian business of Brookfield Renewable, to build a solar project near Cardston, Alberta. The project was completed and Scotiabank began acquiring renewable energy certificates (RECs) throughout 2024 under the terms of the VPPA." — https://www.scotiabank.com/content/dam/scotiabank/corporate/Documents/2025/Scotiabank_2024_Climate_Report_Final.pdf
