About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
The SC-HOOP project develops a pilot plant using Versalis' proprietary HOOP® technology to convert 6,000 tonnes per year of mixed plastic waste into 4,860 tonnes per year of recycled naphtha, suitable for steam cracker feedstocks to produce new polymers. This achieves an 81% relative GHG emission reduction compared to virgin production and supports plastic circularity by complementing mechanical recycling. The demonstration plant in Mantua, Italy, is now operational following inauguration in June 2025.<grok:render type="render_inline_citation"><argument name="citation_id">53</argument></grok:render><grok:render type="render_inline_citation"><argument name="citation_id">7</argument></grok:render>
