About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
Caterpillar installed a hybrid microgrid system at its Tucson Proving Ground security operations building in Arizona, consisting of 58 solar panels on a carport canopy and a Cat XES60 battery energy storage system with microgrid controller, retaining diesel generator as backup. The system now supplies nearly 100% of the site's power needs from solar, drastically reducing diesel fuel consumption and associated GHG emissions for this off-grid facility. Evidence: "In February 2025, Caterpillar installed a compact hybrid microgrid. Components of the system include 58 solar panels (on a carport-style canopy), a Cat ® XES60 battery storage system (24 kW with a built-in microgrid controller), while retaining the diesel generator as a backup power source." — https://www.cat.com/en_AU/by-industry/electric-power/Articles/Testimonials/off-the-grid-on-the-money-tpg-gatehouse.html
