The French company Carbios has developed an enzyme-based process to depolymerise PET packaging. In mid 2019, it first successfully produced PET bottles using its technology. It is now working to scale up the technology with several partners, announcing that a first-of-a-kind plant processing 50 kt of PET in France will be operational by 2025.
