The Carbon2Business project at Holcim’s Lägerdorf cement plant in Germany implements a second-generation oxyfuel carbon capture technology to capture more than 1.2 million tons of CO2 emissions annually starting in 2028. The CO2-rich flue gas is processed and supplied as a raw material for synthetic methanol production, integrated with the HySCALE100 hydrogen project. This effort positions Lägerdorf as the world's first carbon-neutral cement plant, advancing decarbonization in the cement industry.
