About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
Eastman is developing the world's largest material-to-material molecular recycling plant in Normandy, France, with a planned capacity to recycle over 200,000 metric tons of hard-to-recycle polyester waste annually in two phases. The facility uses advanced polyester renewal technology via methanolysis to break down waste into molecular building blocks for producing virgin-quality materials, diverting plastics from landfills and incineration while reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The project, announced in 2022 with a $1 billion investment for Phase I, is currently under development with startup expected in 2026.
Statuses, countries and reductions are as the public source states them, and may be out of date.
