About this project

The description is as the source gives it.

Heidelberg Materials is developing the world's first full-scale carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) system at its Edmonton cement plant to create a net-zero carbon cement facility. The project, supported by the Canadian government and partners including Enbridge and MHI, will capture over 1 million tonnes of CO2 annually, equivalent to emissions from 220,000 cars. As of January 2026, it is in advanced development with ongoing regulatory approvals, environmental studies, and community engagement, targeting operational status by the end of the year.

Statuses, countries and reductions are as the public source states them, and may be out of date.
