About this project
The description is as the source gives it.
ELYSIS, a joint venture between Rio Tinto and Alcoa, is developing revolutionary inert anode technology to produce carbon-free aluminum at the Arvida smelter in Quebec, Canada. The demonstration plant, with a capacity of 2,500 tons of aluminum per year, is under construction and expected to commence production in 2027, eliminating all direct greenhouse gas emissions from smelting and producing oxygen as a byproduct. This project marks a significant step toward decarbonizing the aluminum industry.
Statuses, countries and reductions are as the public source states them, and may be out of date.
