About this project

The description is as the source gives it.

EO2 aims to build and operate the Energy Observer 2, a 160-meter cargo ship powered by liquid hydrogen designed to decarbonize maritime freight shipping. Capable of carrying 1,100 TEUs on commercial routes along Europe's Atlantic and Northern Sea coasts, it features cryogenic tanks for 42 tonnes of LH2, 4.8 MW fuel cells, and achieves 98% greenhouse gas emissions avoidance compared to equivalent diesel ships.<grok:render type="render_inline_citation"><argument name="citation_id">1</argument></grok:render><grok:render type="render_inline_citation"><argument name="citation_id">12</argument></grok:render> The project demonstrates technical feasibility, creates jobs, and strengthens Europe's hydrogen technology leadership in maritime.<grok:render type="render_inline_citation"><argument name="citation_id">4</argument></grok:render>
